A line has been running through my head for the past couple of days.         ” The opposite of love is power”. When you give love, you can’t take away power. When you feel love, you can’t seek power. When you are in love, you don’t consider power.

Both are strong motivators but I don’t believe they can coexist peacfully and neither did Ghandi.

“Power is of two kinds. One is obtained by the fear of punishment and the other by acts of love. Power based on love is a thousand times more effective and permanent then the one derived from fear of punishment.”

But I have tried to use power instead of love, even in my closest relationships, even knowing it is destined to fail. Is this a gender tendency – am I more likely to exert rather than embrace because I am male?

More miles to travel today and time to ponder that question.
